The TalkTrac communicator is easy to program - just hold down the record button and talk into the built-in microphone. It has 75 seconds of total message space and four activation areas. You can begin by recording just one message programmed into all four areas, and then gradually use each of the other recording areas. Symbols can be placed into the TalkTrac. Any number of different combinations could be used - for example you could program in 4 drinks to choose from, or enter a shopping list to select from when they go out etc.
