The program comes with a good selection of sample files to give you ideas, but provides a very easy way to make use of that digital camera, or your own clip art to tailor activities for your own students.
For example, you could create a simple switch or mouse activated talking book, create a simple sequencing activity or have a picture/scene build up by repeated clicks or switch presses.
An easy-to-use program for creating linear early learning activities.
It is ideal for developing the concepts of cause-and-effect, sequencing and building.
The inclusion of a recording facility provides an opportunity for learners to add their own sounds to an activity.
The example files are intended to demonstrate a range of activities that can be created with the program. Some of the example files are described below.
- Grow - shows a sequence of pictures for growing a plant.
- Count - a simple counting exercise.
- Abstract - a set of abstract images and sounds intended as a cause-and-effect activity.
- Time - shows a clock on each hour.
- Digger - builds a construction vehicle over five screens.
- LeftRight - a set of arrows moving from left to right across the screen. The sounds on each screen 'follow' the arrows in stereo, panning from left to right.
- Kim 1 and Kim 2 are versions of 'Kim's Game' in which objects are removed from a selection one at a time. Spot which objects are missing!
- Town - a set of photographs around a town as an example of how an activity could be localised.
SwitchIt! Maker can be operated with one or two switches, mouse, IntelliKeys or touchscreen.
