Special Access Features: switch (keyboard/serial)
A KS1 Science CD-ROM. Based on the theme of Living and Growing. It involves tasks such as identification, and matching using words and pictures.
It has been designed to include as many learners as possible, including those who use switches to access a computer.
One set of activities use 'the parts of flowering plants', as recommended in the National Curriculum Orders for Science.
The structure of the activities is clear and arranged in a consistent way. The screen layout has been designed to be clear and uncluttered so as not to distract from the activity at hand. Sample speech has been used throughout, so that wherever there is written text there is speech support. Equally, wherever there is speech there is written text support.
- Look at six flowering plants.
- Find out the names of the different parts.
- Identify the parts of flowering plants.
- Match the flowers, leaves and roots of six flowering plants.
- Play a word game using words from other activities.
- Print out a teacher's page showing which words were correctly matched first time and which were not.
- Print out a certificate showing which words were correctly matched.
Activities are based on flowering plants and the human body.
