ChooseIt! Maker ChooseIt! Maker

Special Access Features: IntelliKeys support, switch (keyboard/mouse)

A step on from the popular SwitchIt! Maker software, but keeping the simplicity for creating your own activities. Moving on from cause-and-effect, learners need to begin to make choices. For switch users, beginning to use scanning techniques is a major hurdle. You will need lots of appropriate and interesting activities, in finely graded steps of progression ChooseIt Maker is a simple editing program for creating linear, choice-making activities. Each page of an activity can have a number of elements: up to six pictures, some text, a sound, a visual prompt and a 'repeat sound' button. Prompted by the sound, the text or the teacher/carer, the learner must choose the correct picture from the top of the screen. Choosing an incorrect answer provides no response. Choosing the correct answer will either show an animated reward or simply progress to the next page of the activities - the result is determined by the settings in the program's Options. In-build switch access means that the program can be used for developing switch training activities as well as mouse skill activities.

Activities:

  • Making the word - choose from two with similar word endings.
  • Match the word - choose from three with similar endings.
  • Match the word/sound to a colour, Choose from two, then three.
  • Match the word/sound to colours in real objects (photographs).

  • Choose from two, then three, then four pictures.
  • Choose a picture that rhymes with a word shown/spoken.
